And Yet...
This is me acknowledging the fact that it has been too long since I wrote on here. Or at least too long since I have written an entry on how my life has been. Or what has transpired as of late.
And yet...here I am.
It is the end of a wonderful weekend. Full of good friends, and festivities. I could use another day, but it always seems like that on Sunday nights. This weekend was equally exhausting and restful, so i suppose it balances out.
I suppose I should fill those of you that don't know what I've been up to in on what's going on. I am working at Covenant this summer on Grounds. I love it so far. I worked Grounds my Freshman year, and I grew up with a dad that did landscaping so i'm used to that sort of work. I even enjoy it. I know. Crazy, right? Being outside in the sun, weed-wacking, and mowing. Who in their right mind would enjoy it? This guy.
Friday (May 11th) was my Birthday. Friday was incredible. Work was great. I managed to go through the whole day without anyone at work finding it was my birthday. I just don't like the special treatment. I've never thought of birthdays as a big deal. So, work over, I got all showered up then headed to dinner at the Mellow Mushroom with April and her sister Melanie. From there April and I headed to the Honest Pint and met up with Neil [who is all the more awesome for staying in town for my birthday instead of going home for the weekend right away], Adam and Mitch. Overall an awesome group. After the Honest Pint we all headed over to Mitch's house and hung out there for a bit. Then we decided to go to the Pickle Barrel, and grab some grub. From there we parted ways and I headed to bed a happy 21 year old.
Yesterday (Saturday, May 12th)I woke up at around 10:30, hung out with the housemates for a bit, then went to Pasha's Coffee. It was so relaxing. Drinking coffee, reading the HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy, getting a chance to talk to Tim Goldsmith. A fantastic relaxing day. Then I stopped by Mojo Burrito, and had a burrito. Then myself, April, Melanie, and Mitch all went to the Chattanooga Roller Derby.
OH. MY. GOSH.
One of the most hilarious and awesome nights ever. The pictures are priceless. This is all of us with "Jenny Hate", "Tamara Obscura", and "Sincerely, Val". They're pretty awesome. And the Roller Derby is just hilarious to watch altogether. It was a great night. After the Roller Derby - which was totally worth the $12 per ticket at the door - we went back to April and Melanie's aunt's house and baked until about 1am. An awesome night. I couldn't have asked for better.

Last Saturday (May 5th) was Graduation. Waking up late, and having to pack everything in your room is a pain, especially when you have so many people to say goodbye to. Anyways, I helped people pack up their stuff all day, then went to Graduation and saw so many wonderful people walk across that stage and receive a diploma. It was great to see them walk, but I kept having the realization that I might not see some of them again. Ever. That is the worst feeling. So, after Graduation i continued to lug stuff around in my car for my wonderful friends. That night we went out and did lots of random and awesome things, like go to the Social, and grab a Frosty at Wendy's, etc. The next day everyone left. It was so depressing to have to say goodbye to everyone, but knowing it was only for the summer made it more tolerable. The following day (Sunday, May 6th), my car did not have any gas, so I slept in and spent some sweet time in the Word, and packed up the rest of my room. It is astounding that everything material that makes me who I am can be contained in just a few boxes. I could go off on that, but I digress. So, i packed up the rest of my belongings, and set them into a corner of my room to be packed into my car the following day. The day was my transition and resting day. I didn't really do anything other than rest. Monday, I woke up. Packed everything in my car, and got all moved into the Student Apartments. Apartment #1. My new Summer Home. .JPG)
The Flamingo is courtesy of my awesome brother and [basically] sister in law. I think it adds a bit of..character, don't you think? The only problem is that he falls down in the rain. That can be easily remedied.
So, I worked every day this past week from 8am until 4:30pm. It's such a blessing to have a job I enjoy doing. Let alone any job at all this summer. Friday (May 11th) was my Birthday. Today (Sunday, May 13th) I went to Lookout Mountain Pres. on the mountain, then the four of us went to Atlanta, GA to get Ethiopian Food. It was so worth the two hour drive there. I love Ethiopian. We proceeded to drive back to Chattanooga after filling out bodies with delicious food, then go to the Dollar Theatre and watch The Lorax. It was a fantastic night..day..weekend....week. It's just been an awesome summer so far. I can get used to this.
And Yet...I'm still homesick.
I'm taking a week off of work the first week of July, to go home and see all my "family" down in Cape Coral. I can't wait. It needs to get here fast.
Well, I am here. Tired. I need to get some sleep. Until I write next.
